Before LED (light emitting diode) technology came to the lighting world, people who owned aquariums were limited to using other forms of lighting such as incandescent and fluorescent lights. The fact is that, there is nothing as important as proper lighting when it comes to fishtanks. Fishtanks are after all, artificial eco-systems and they need their regular dose of light. The idea is to mimic what they get in nature through sunlight. Fish tank ledlights are a big step towards accomplishing this. Less heat means lower ambient temperature of the water, and not having to worry about an external cooling system. Over all, with ledlights it is much easier and less costly to control the environment of the fishtank. Ledlights can be bought from most major stores and will fit in most lighting fixtures. They can be used in both freshwater as well as salt water fishtanks.
